Clinical Hypnosis is a powerful tool in therapy that can facilitate rapid results. Some of the common uses for Clinical Hypnosis include smoking cessation, pain management, anxiety and stress management, sleep disorders, and trauma.
You may be wondering how Clinical Hypnosis works. Just as with any other therapeutic intervention, our work together will begin with an assessment and formulation of treatment goals. If I believe that hypnosis will be a useful tool in our work together, I will offer this as part of your treatment. Hypnosis facilitates a natural, altered state of awareness called a trance state. In this state, your conscious, critical mind is relaxed making you more open to identifying barriers and increasing motivation for change by working directly with your subconscious mind. Being in a trance state is different than being unconscious. While in a trance state, you're aware of everything that is happening around you.
A common myth is that you're under the control of the individual utilizing hypnosis. This couldn't be further from the truth; you can not enter a trance state unless you want to. Learn more about clinical hypnosis here.
